Federico Bocchia: New Entry in AQUARAPID team!

30.03.2015

A new entry in the Aquarapid team: since March the racer, Federico Bocchia, who worked with us for the photographic services of the FW14 and FW15 catalogues, has been a fully fledged member of the AQUARAPID TEAM. At his first official appearance at the ‘Città di Milano’ meeting on March 14-15, Federico, THE KING SHARK, raced in the new PRO XTR swimsuit, swimming the 50m freestyle in a time of 22”17, which ranks him eighth in the world so far this year.

Federico Bocchia (born in Parma on October 24, 1986) specialises in freestyle, namely in the 50m, a race where he has been on the podium many times at the Italian Championships. In 2007 he won the 50m freestyle in the Winter, Spring and Summer Italian Championships. He qualified for the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, where he reached two finals.

In 2009 he was selected for the Mediterranean Games in Pescara, where he won bronze in the 50m freestyle. He won one more bronze with the 4x50m freestyle relay at the 2009 European Short Course Championships in Istanbul.

In 2011 he won gold with the 4x50m freestyle relay at the European Short Course Championships in Szczecin. In his career, he has won 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in the 50m freestyle at the Italian Championships.

Federico also raced in the Italian Championships in Riccione in April, swimming very close to his personal best and fighting for victory in the 50m freestyle as far as the last metres. He finished third by a whisker (after Marco Orsi and Luca Dotto). He may still qualify for the World Championships in Kazan.

We will see our racers at the International Sette Colli Trophy, scheduled for June 12-14, 2015, in Rome.
